Dr. Dean holds three of the original nine
patents on the computer that all Windows/Intel PCs are based
upon.
Invention Economic Impact:
Millions of PCs through-out the world are based upon his and his
co-inventor's (Dennis Moeller), original designs. This means
he had a direct hand in helping to create hundreds of thousands of jobs
(if not millions) and a trillion dollar industry. Which in turn created
avenues of opportunity for other people and companies to make billions
and millions in personal and corporate wealth, yet he receives barely
any recognition. This fact we find unconscionable!! on the
part of the computer industry, the American press and the American
education system.
He also led the team that developed the ISA
bus, and he led the design team responsible for creating the first
one-gigahertz computer processor chip. Dr. Dean is the first African-American to become an IBM Fellow, which is the highest level of technical excellence at the company.
In 1997 Dr. Dean, along with his co-inventor
(Dennis Moeller), was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of
Fame, where he joined two other eminent black members, George
Washington Carver and Dr. Percy Julian.
During his 20-year career, he has held a number of engineering
positions in the field of computer system hardware architecture and
design. Dr. Dean is currently Vice President of Systems in IBM
Research, responsible for developing next-generation hardware and
systems technologies: systems covering pervasive to supercomputing
environments.
Right on to our Brother!! Right on!!
